From scoping to monitoring-Requirements and proposals for practical work


This seminar aims to promote broader Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) capacity building processes for experts and project managers working in programmes and projects receiving EU support.  It also aims to train the trainers to ensure regular applications in partner countries without further outside support.

At the end of the seminar, attendees will have a better understanding of the requirements of the EU Directive.  They will get practical advice on how to conduct SEA in a variety of settings integrating environmental sustainability requirements into planning and decision-making processes as well as in evaluations. 


Course objectives:

To gain better understanding of:

  • the rationale and objectives of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA);
  • the institutional arrangements that are in place to undertake SEA;
  • the scope of application of SEA in relation to levels and types of decision-making;
  • key principles of SEA and elements of good practice;
  • the procedures and methods that are used to carry out this process.

The language of the seminar is English.
