Project Evaluation in INTERREG
Key assessment aspects to develop a successful INTERREG project


The Seminar aims to give an insight of what INTERREG means in the 2014-2020 period concerning all three strands: cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation, with a special focus on the evaluation of project proposals. It is ideal for newcomers in INTERREG and also for those who already gained some knowledge on the field.

The participants will be guided step by step from the general INTERREG framework until the selection of the cooperation projects (cross-border, transnational and interregional) to acquire the needed knowledge to self-assess effectively their own project ideas or to contribute to the project assessment exercises of INTERREG Programmes. At the end of the course they will have the understanding of how project evaluations are planned and conducted, which are the main evaluation methods and tools, and how quality projects in the domain of INTERREG are selected.

Course objectives:

  • Gain knowledge of the INTERREG framework
  • Understand the main principles and steps of the project selection process of INTERREG Programmes
  • Understand and apply the strategic and quality assessment criteria of INTERREG Programmes in practice through practical exercises
  • Ensure the proper understanding of the role of the output and result indicators in the evaluation process
  • Improve the ability to carry out proper and effective self-assessment of project ides before the application
  • Improve understanding on the use of the evaluation results and recommendations

The language of the seminar is English.
